As many as eight officials of the Border Military Police were suspended on Wednesday by commandant of the Dera Ghazi khan division for negligence.
Commandant Shahid Mehboob said on Tuesday, four containers carrying smuggled goods were stopped at Boata check post of the Border Military Police.
He said customs duty had not been paid on the goods in the containers. He said goods in the container had been imported from Europe and Central Asian states.
He said drivers the containers had driven into barriers of the check post and shot at officials of Border Military Police.
He said they tried to return to Balochistan but were arrested by Baloch Levies and the containers were seized and handed over to custom officials in Dera Ghazi Khan.
He said on Wednesday, Sakhi Sarwar police seized two containers in urban Dera Ghazi Khan that had no customs clearance form and other official documents.
Taking notice of containers passing through check posts without proper documentation, Mehboob then suspended eight officials stationed at Bowata and Raakhi Gaaj check posts.
He said an inquiry had been started against them.
