FAISALABAD:

Over three dozen workers of the Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) on Wednesday held an awareness walk regarding World Environment Day on Wednesday.

The workers started the walk from Kachtery Bazaar and concluded their march at Clock Tower Chowk.

FWMC Operations Managar Muhammad Ijaz, Accounts Manager Javed Hussain, Company Secretary Aurangzeb Shami, Communication Officer Farhan Qazi, Punjab Anjuman-i-Tajraan general secretary Shahid Gogi and Faisalabad Power Looms Association Chairman Mirza Shafique Ahmed participated in the walk.

Speaking on the occasion, Ijaz said the purpose of the walk was to raise awareness regarding waste management and to encourage people to use waste bins which had been installed in eight bazaars around the Clock Tower.

He said the walk was part of FWMC’s anti-littering campaign and aimed to make Faisalabad a clean city.

The participants of the walk carried banners and placards and chanted slogans concerning waste management.

Ijaz said the people should use waste bins to properly dispose off the trash they produced every day.

He said the public could play a key role in keeping their cities clean and the citizens healthy.

Anjuman-i-Tajraan General Secretary Shahid Gogi appreciated the steps taken by FWMC to clean up the city.

He said he hoped the awareness campaign of the FWMC would provide the public an opportunity to participate and improve the waste management system in their city.

He said the awareness campaigns help equip the public with information necessary to handle waste properly, which definitely result in sensitisation of the public regarding cleanliness.
