
Seven people were killed and 10 others were injured in two accidents on Saturday.
Rescue 1122 officials said a van travelling to Chakwal from Talagang and a car driving in from the opposite direction collided at Gambhir drain bridge.
Rescue officials said soon after the collision, the van caught fire.
Witnesses said some of the passengers broke the windows and jumped out of the van. Two women died in the spot.
One of them was identified as Ismat Shaheen, a resident of Wanhaar, whereas the other body was unidentified till the report was filed.
Muhammad Khan Kallo, Shahbaz Hussain, Abdullah Aziz, Nasir Mehmood and Muhammd Aslam, Noor Khan, Muhammad Javed and Muhammad Jamil were injured and taken to burn units in Wah Cantt and Kharian.
Separately, five members of a family were killed and two others were injured in an accident on the motorway.
The family was travelling to Islamabad from Lahore.
The tyre of their car burst near Kot Momin and the driver lost control.
The car hit a trolley, killing five people on the spot.
They were identified as Abdul Basit, Amir Shakoor, Samia Shakoor, Asma Basit, Arfa.
Basit and Faizan – both children – sustained minor injuries.
Rescue 1122 officials had to cut open the vehicles to pull out the bodies.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incidents.
