Liability: Farm workers detained, beaten

BAHAWALPUR: 

The police on Sunday raided a dairy farm and recovered seven workers were being detained by their employer.  An Iqabalabad police spokesman said Chaudhary Sikander ran a dairy farm near Wahi Shah, Rahimyar Khan and had employed Ameer Bakhsh, Shakeel Ahmad, Muhammad Arif, Ashfaq Ali, Waqar Ahmad, Shamshaad Hussain and Yasir to work on the farm. 

He said on Wednesday, one of the workers accidentally damaged a fodder cutting machine. He said the workers told them that Sikander had his guards tie up the workers and hang them upside down. He said the men were also beaten. He said when the men did not return home, their families visited Sikander who told them that they were not at the farm.  He said unsatisfied with his answer, the families approached the police.  He said the men were recovered in a raid on Sunday. He said they were taken to a hospital for examination and treatment. He said Sikander had managed to flee during the raid.
