A consumer court on Saturday issued a notice to a proprietor accused of selling the petitioner a defective air cooler. The petitioner has sought Rs300,000 as damages.
Petitioner Muhammad Zaman said he purchased an air cooler from Muhammad Shehzad in Samanabad recently. He said he paid Rs9,000 for the cooler and Shehzad assured him that he would be responsible if the air cooler stopped working.
Zaman said the cooler started malfunctioning within a few days and he complained about it to Shehzad. He said he took the cooler to Shehzad who returned it after a day but the problem persisted.
He said he complained about it again but Shehzad started delaying the matter and eventually refused to replace the cooler or return his money.
Zaman requested the court to direct Shehzad to pay damages for selling him a defective air cooler. Muhamamd Shehzad told The Express Tribune that these allegations were false and that he had fixed the air cooler and returned it to Zaman the same day. He said Zaman called about the air cooler again and he asked him to bring it to him but he never showed up. He said if the petitioner approached his shop he would fix the air cooler again.
