LAHORE:
The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) said on Friday the process of land excavation and filling at select areas of Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art waste disposal facility had been completed.
The facility is being constructed on a 43-hectare plot in Lakhodair. An administration block, a workshop, parking spaces and access roads would be built alongside the sanitary landfill. A leachate pool and recirculation system with piping and drainage works will also be installed.
Geomembrane and geotextile, a fabric employed to buttress soil against the effects of leachate, will also be laid on an area of 28 hectares. The facility is expected to be completed within a few months.
