LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi claimed on Sunday that the Punjab government was trying to divide the opposition, Express News reported.
Addressing the media in Lahore, Elahi said that the government would fail in their plans to divide the opposition, and added that it had lost its moral and constitutional compass after the Model Town clashes on June 17, which left over a dozen dead and injured several others.
Holding Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif responsible for the clashes once again, the PML-Q president said that the government failed to provide justice to the 15 people killed in the clashes. Furthermore, the government has not registered FIRs in the case either, he said.
Elahi extended support for the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan and said that his party was collecting aid for the internally displaced persons.
