FAISALABAD: Jhang Bazaar police were granted physical remand on Tuesday of two men who were arrested a day earlier for killing three people.
Jhang Bazaar Station House Officer (SHO) Khalil Ahmad Ghumman said that unidentified assailants had shot Zulfiqar Ali, 70, Sughran Bibi, 65, and their daughter Ghulam Fatima, 30, several times in Lateef Park on June 13.
The three people died on the spot.
The station house officer told journalists that a committee was formed to arrest the accused.
He said that the committee had traced the accused using the information gathered through the registration number of the motorcycle they had left at the crime scene.
Khalil Ahmad Ghumman said that Muhammad Arif and Shoaib Javaid were arrested on Monday. Their accomplice Adnan Sarfraz alias Billa had fled.
Arif told police he had “secretly” married Fatima more than a year ago. After sometime, he said, Fatima filed a petition in a court, seeking divorce.
“This made me angry and I and my supporters killed Fatima and her parents,” he said.
The station house officer said police had recovered the weapon that Arif had used in the murder.
Police are now looking for Billa.
