Police said on Friday that two men had kidnapped and assaulted a girl in Tarkhani area.
They said the men had abducted the victim from her house and had gang raped her. They said Arif Rafiq and Arshad Nabeel had abducted her from Chak 217-GB and taken her to Chichawatni. They held the victim captive for 16 days and gang raped her. Police said she had managed to escape her captors and reached home on Thursday.
Amjad Ali, an uncle of the victim, said she had gone missing on August 26. He said they had tried to trace her in vain. Ali said they had informed police about the disappearance but they had failed to locate her. He said she had reached home on Thursday. Ali said she informed her family that the men had abducted and raped her.
He said she had informed them that the culprits had detained her at a house in Chichawatni. Ali said they had tried to force her into marrying Rafiq. He said they had beaten and raped her after she refused.
Ali said they had chained the victim to prevent her from escaping and would lock the house when they had to leave the premises. He said the girl had managed to escape when the culprits passed out after consuming liquor. Ali said the girl had reached her village via Toba Tek Singh and Gojra. He said sympathetic bus conductors had allowed her to travel for free.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Tarkhani station house officer said a case had been registered against the men. He said a team had been constituted to apprehend them. He said a team had raided the house where the girl had been detained but had failed to nab the culprits. He said police hoped to arrest them in 48 hours.
