Police said on Wednesday that a hakeem (a practitioner of traditional medicine) had committed suicide after killing his wife in Samanabad area.
They said Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Muzaffar Colony, had been struggling to make ends meet.
Police said he had been quarrelling on Tuesday with his wife, Fehmida Bibi, over financing their daughters’ weddings.
They said he had killed her after a heated argument at his shop the following morning. Police said he had committed suicide after killing her.
A police team reached the scene and took the bodies in custody. Iqbal Town Superintendent Zulfiquar Ahmad, Factory Area Deputy Superintendent Malik Khalid Awan and Samanabad Station House Officer Khwaja Imran Manan were present on the occasion.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Awan said the bodies had been sent to a mortuary for autopsy.
He said police had recovered a revolver from the scene and were investigating further.
