FAISALABAD: Police on Sunday seized more than 157 bags of fodder, meant to be distributed among the flood-affected people, from a veterinary assistant’s house.
According to Athara Hazari police, Veterinary Officer Dr Imran Haneef Gujjar and policemen raided the house the veterinary assistant and seized the bags of fodder.
The Athara Hazari SHO said that the police had also arrested the veterinary assistant.
Gujjar told The Express Tribune on Sunday that Livestock Department had provided the bags to the veterinary assistant to distribute them at the Waso Astana flood camp. “However, the officer misappropriated more than 600 bags from the official quantity. He told his superiors that the bags had been distributed among the flood-affected people,” Gujjar said.
“We received a tip-off and raided his house in Athara Hazari and seized 157 bags,” he said.
“An investigation is underway for the recovery of the remaining 443 bags,” he said.
