Spring plantation begins: 412,000 trees to be planted in the district

BAHAWALPUR: 

As many as 412,000 trees will be planted in the district as part of the spring plantation campaign, District Coordination Officer Naeem Rauf said on Friday.

He was talking to officials after inaugurating the plantation campaign by planting a sapling at his office.

The DCO directed the executive district officer (Education) to submit a weekly report in this regard. He also told him to issue show cause notices to department heads who did not meet the targets set for them.

Rauf said that the campaign’s success was vital for a greener environment.

“We should strive to make Bahawalpur an example for the rest of the country.”

He said that the plantation campaign should not merely be taken as a ‘target campaign’. It should ne considered as a campaign for the welfare of the people.

He also directed the Bahawalpur zoo officials to plant trees along the boundary wall of the zoo.

In a meeting regarding the anti-dengue campaign, DCO Rauf demanded that a report be sent to him by the tehsil municipal administration and the Health Department.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the lax attitude of some officials in this regard. He directed the officials to give him a daily update in this regard.

The DCO directed the officials to start the insecticide fogging and spraying.

Bahawalpur has been divided into 90 sectors with one monitoring official each under the anti-dengue campaign.
