LAHORE: The six member Parliamentary Committee convened its second meeting without a decision on a name for the position of caretaker chief minister of Punjab on Monday, reported Express News.
The committee addressed the media after the meeting and hoped to agree on a name within the deadline.
“We will give you the good news tomorrow”, said PML-Q member Chaudhry Zahirudin.
Keeping the transition of caretaker setups in different provinces in mind, they hoped that the province of Punjab would also be successful in the transition.
Committee head Rana Sanaullah said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) representatives had voiced reservations against the opposition’s nominations.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nominated journalist Najam Sethi, Justice (r) Zahid Hussain, while the PML-N suggested the names of Justice (r) Amir Raza Khan and Khawaja Zaheer, a former bureaucrat.
The third and final meeting will be held on Tuesday morning.
If the meeting does not result in consensus on a name, the matter will be referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan for a decision.
