Sultan meets Sethi: ‘Law and order our priority’

Improving the law and order situation was described on Tuesday as the “top priority of the caretaker government” by Chief Minister Najam Sethi. He made the statement during a meeting with Inspector General Aftab Sultan who called on Sethi on Tuesday.

The IG and the chief minister reviewed the law and order situation and security arrangements for the elections. Political, social and economic activities are not possible without peace, stressed Sethi. He said the protection of life and property of citizens was the foremost responsibility of the police, directing them to utilise all their resources to control crime. Sethi said the government was ready for the challenge, which he said was “not impossible”. Sethi directed law-enforcing agencies to ensure peaceful elections.

Sethi praised Sultan, saying that he was “a hardworking and capable police officer who will strive vigorously for eradication of crime in the Punjab”.
