BAHAWALPUR:

Some 50 eunuchs protested against the police in front of the Press Club in Rahim Yar Khan on Monday after their two colleagues were allegedly beaten up by some policemen at a wedding ceremony on Sunday. The policemen and the hosts also took their mobile phones and gold jewellery, which the protesters claimed, was worth Rs200,000.

The protesters said that Mursaleen alias Sana Muhammad and Imran alias Chahat, residents of Muhajir Colony in Liaqatpur, were called to a wedding ceremony in Garhi Ikhtiar Khan in Khanpur by Imran Gujjar and Zeeshan. They said the hosts made them dance till 2am despite earlier agreement for midnight and later called the police and beat them up.

They said the policemen and the hosts also snatched their valuables.

They said Sana and Chahat had to flee and hide in the nearby field till sunrise. They said they went to the police station in the morning, but their complaint was not entertained.

They said it was not the first time police had treated them this way.

The protesters dispersed when District Police Officer Sohail Zafar Chattha, who was visiting the Press Club at that time, assured them that he would look into the incident. The protest continued for three hours.
