Capital City Police Officer Khaliq Dad Lak has said ensuring peaceful atmosphere to hold transparent elections was the first priority of the Police Department.
Presiding over a joint meeting of Operations and Investigation Wings here on Thursday, he directed the officials to make foolproof security arrangements for sensitive poling stations besides ensuring tight security for the polling staff and the candidates contesting the elections.
Operations DIG Jawad Ahmad Dogar and Investigations DIG Zulfiqar Hameed were prominent among the officers present on the occasion.
The CCPO warned that harassment of innocent citizens at police stations could not be tolerated. He said strict action would be taken against officials involved in such misconduct. He directed the field officers to launch a special campaign against proclaimed offenders and court absconders. He also directed the officers to make patrolling more effective.
