The provincial election commission has allocated Rs650.92 million for the upcoming general elections in the Punjab, The Express Tribune has learnt.
According to Faisalabad regional election commissioner Muhammad Arif, as many as 37 district returning officers and 151 returning officers would be deployed during the elections. He said altogether 40,609 polling stations would be set up in the Punjab.
The provincial election commission has allocated Rs121.82 million for transport expenditures, Rs339,000 for postage and telegraphy, Rs752,000 for stationary and Rs5.6 million for miscellaneous expenditures.
Rs2.25 million would be paid to the returning officers (Rs12,000 per officer) and Rs45 million to 42,639 presiding officers for their services during the elections. The assistant presiding officers would be paid Rs208.5 million and Rs104.2 million have been allocated for the services of 115,860 polling officers and Rs162.3 million for other staff.
