A Lahore High Court division bench on Thursday restrained the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from taking action against defaulters of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco).
The bench comprising Justice Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad and Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan passed the order on dozens of petitions filed by individuals.
Petitioner’s counsel Noshab A Khan argued that Lesco had sought the help of the NAB for recovery of its dues from the defaulters and the bureau had subsequently issued notices to the petitioners. The counsel pointed out that the Lesco had offered the bureau a percentage from the amount to be recovered.
He argued that the NAB had no jurisdiction to take action against the defaulters. The bench issued a stay order and sought reply from the bureau by April 24.
