LAHORE:

The Litter-Free Lahore Campaign of the Lahore Waste Management Company launched on Tuesday is gaining momentum.

Dozens of celebrities including Najam Sethi, Yousaf Salahuddin, Nayyar Ali Dada and Nadia Jamil have signed an LWMC pledge to keep the city litter-free.

The LWMC has installed nearly 100 bins at Liberty Market, Barkat Market, Shalimar Link Road Market and Baghbanpura Market in the first two days of the campaign and plans to cover 25 markets, increasing the number of bins citywide to more than 1,000. The campaign aims at reaching out to 500,000 Lahoris.

TV and newspaper offices are also being provided bins.

The campaign will deploy Litter Wardens at busy intersections on Saturday and Sunday to warn littering travelers against irresponsible civic behaviour. Students from several universities have volunteered for Litter Wardens Day.
