LAHORE:

PTI chief Imran Khan is likely to appear before District Returning Officer Nazir Ahmad Gajana by April 30 to receive his notice for violating the code of conduct set by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

On Sunday, some lawyers on behalf of Khan appeared before Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Tariq Javed, requesting him to issue them the notice meant for Khan as Gajana was out of station. Later, the lawyers left the court room, saying that the PTI chief will himself come to receive the notice by April 30.

A source close to Khan’s legal team claimed that the PTI chief would have appeared before the DRO on Sunday had he been available. Gajana had issued notices to Khan and PTI Lahore President Abdul Aleem Khan for violating ECP directions. Abdul Aleem Khan had appeared before the court to receive his notice and sought PTI chief ‘s exemption from personal appearance owing to his election campaign. The DRO then said Imran Khan should personally appear before him to receive his notice.
