Four people, including a 10-year-old, died on Monday after they were trapped under the rubble while digging a well in Kotli Najabaat in Shujabad. It took Rescue officials 10 hours to recover the bodies.
Rescue officials said Muhammad Shabbir, a landlord, had called labourers to repair the walls of a well. They said while the labourers were putting up a wooden structure to hold the earth, the walls collapsed. Three labourers were trapped under the debris along with Shabbir’s son who was sitting on the edge of the well. Resuce1122 were called. The bodies were recovered after 10 hours. The labourers were all residents of Chak 90.
In Kasur a 10- year-old girl was killed and seven others were injured after two buildings collapsed.
Rescue officials said a house collapsed in Piyal Kalan. Owner of the house Manzoor, his wife Khursheed and children Nawaz, Munazza and Aasiya were trapped under the rubble. Aasiya died before they could be pulled out. The injured were taken to a hospital, where they were later reported to be out of danger.
Elsewhere, three of a family were injured in a house collapse. The injured- Hanifan Bibi and her children Yasmin and Marwa- were taken to Kasur Hospital, where they were later reported to be out of danger.
