Garjakh police suspects that a two-year-old who was found lying dead in a water tank on Wednesday had been killed by her grandfather. They said the man had had a property dispute with his son (father of the child).
The child’s body was found in a water tank on the roof of her house.
Police said Rasulpura resident Muhammad Zeeshan’s daughter Zahra Sehar went missing in the morning. One of the neighbours, who was helping the parents look for the child found the body in the water tank.
The girl was pulled out and rushed to a hospital, but she was pronounced dead on the way by Rescue officials.
The girl’s maternal grandfather, Muhammad Idrees, alleged that Zeeshan’s father Muhammad Hanif had thrown the child into the water. He said he had had a dispute with Zeeshan over property.
A case was registered on the complaint of Idrees.
Police said Hanif was missing.
The station house officer told The Express Tribune that the water tank was several feet above the ground so that the child was unlikely to have accidently fallen into it. He said it was clear that someone had thrown the child into the water.
The body has been sent for a post mortem examination.
