As many as 20,000 police officials will perform guard duty at polling stations in the Faisalabad district on May 11, Police spokesman Sub Inspector Ameer Nasir Javed told The Express Tribune.
These are: seven police superintendents, 14 deputy superintendents, 80 inspectors, 840 upper subordinates and 19,256 jawans.
Javed said 3,161 polling stations and 8,341 polling booths would be established in the 11 National Assembly and 22 Provincial Assembly constituencies in the district.
As many as 741 candidates are in the run. Javed said there were 3.5 million registered voters (2 million men and 1.5 million women).
Of the 3,161 polling stations, he said 267 fell in category-A (highly sensitive), 1,137 in category-B, and 1,757 in category-C.
He said eight policemen would be deputed at a category-A polling station each, and four each at category-B and C stations. He said a full rehearsal of police officials was planned for May 8.
