A modern information system has been set up in the province to ensure redress of citizens’ complaints regarding the election code of conduct, Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi told a six-member delegation of foreign journalists at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Sunday.
Journalists from the German Press Federation, Vienna Newspaper, N-TV, Suddeutsche Zeitung, Kleinezeitung and a freelancer visited Sethi to discuss security measures and steps taken by the government to ensure fair and transparent elections. Sethi said security had been beefed up. He said law enforcement agencies will try to ensure peaceful elections.
“The media has transformed the world into a global village. Nothing escapes their notice,” he said. Sethi said citizens could register complaints at The Election Information Centre’s hotline, 8070. “There is also a mechanism for citizens to report that their complaints were not addressed properly,” he said.
