FAISALABAD:

Chak Jhumra police declared on Monday the triple murder on Saturday was an outcome of an old rivalry and not political.

The two groups had exchanged fire two days ago resulting in the death of three people.

Amir Nasir Javed, a spokesperson for the regional police officer, said that Nabeel Muzaffar and Safdar Ali had had an enmity going back to a dispute over money.

On Saturday, they had an argument which was resolved by common friends.

However, after some time, Ali and his men- identified as Muhammad Riaz, Irfan, Ali Raza and Ghulam Murtaza- went to Muzaffar’s dera, where Muzaffar, his son Waseem and brothers Adeel, Aneel, Jameel, Wakeel, Bilal, Jalal and Asran along with two other men shot at them.

Ali, Raza and Murtaza died on the spot. Police said the incident was initially reported to have been a case of political rivalry. Police are looking for the suspects.
