LAHORE:

A consumer court on Tuesday issued a notice to the proprietor of Chishti Irfan Zari House for June 6 in a suit seeking damages of Rs105,000 for allegedly not delivering the petitioner’s gown that she wanted to wear to her son’s wedding.

Petitioner Najma Shafqat submitted that she had ordered a gown on July 19, 2012. The proprietor, Malik Adnan, said the gown would cost Rs15,000 and she had paid Rs5,000 in advance, Shafqat said.

The gown, Najma Shafqat said, was to be delivered by August 17, 2012. She said she wanted to wear it to her son’s wedding.

However, she said, the gown was not delivered. Adnan, she said, had asked for two more days to complete the dress.

Najma Shafqat said that when she went to pick the dress up, it was still not stitched. Najma Shafqat said that she asked Malik Adnan to return the advance she had paid for the dress but he refused.

She prayed the court to direct Malik Adnan to return the money he had received and pay Rs100,000 as damages.

Adnan could not be reached for his comments.
