LAHORE:

A consumer court on Monday issued bail-able arrest warrants for a proprietor for September 30 in a suit seeking Rs35,000 damages for allegedly selling a defective smart mobile.

Petitioner Azam Mehdi submitted that he had purchased a smart phone for Rs6,000 from Al-Siddique Mobiles in Kareem Block a month ago but it stopped working after three days.

He said that he sent the phone to the shop for repair. “I went to collect my phone the next day but he told me to come back after a few days,” Mehdi said. The proprietor would make excuses and had neither replaced the phone nor refunded the money, he said.

He prayed the court to direct the respondent to give him Rs35,000  damages.

The court then issued a notice which had been received by the respondent but he did not show up in court. The court then issued the warrants. The respondent did not attend this correspondent’s calls to his phone.
