A natural gas supply project in Bajwat was inaugurated on Sunday. This project will supply gas to 35 villages in the Pindi Khokaran, Head Marala and Chaprar union councils.
The inauguration was jointly presided over by Governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mehmood, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi. Addressing the gathering at Dhalleywali-Head Marala village, Governor Mehmood promised to make Punjab a stronghold of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). He said that the PPP believed in serving the masses and that its efforts in this regard would continued without any discrimination. He urged the people to re-elect Dr Awan from NA-111, Sialkot-II in the general elections. He also offered Dr Awan to contest the general election from his native constituency in Rahim Yar Khan.
Earlier, Kundi claimed that the PPP would form the next government in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the PPP would form governments in all the four provinces this time.
He said as the people of Punjab wanted to be rid of Takht-e-Lahore, the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa were fed up with Takht-e-Peshawar.
Dr Awan strongly criticised the Punjab government for allegedly removing banners, placards and PPP flags displayed in her constituency. She said the banners and the flags had been displayed to welcome the governor and termed this as a “rude act”.
She lauded the efforts of party workers and said that they were the party’s asset. She said the PPP government was safeguarding their rights.
She claimed that other mainstream political parties were upset over the growing popularity of the PPP in Bajwat.
She later accompanied the governor and Kundi to a meeting with the Sialkot businessmen at the Civil Rest House in Head Marala.
