Wanted: Two killed in ‘encounter’, one flees

MULTAN: 

Two men, the police said were wanted robbers, were killed here on Thursday in an alleged police encounter. One of their accomplices fled, police said. 

A police team, headed by the Cantonment police superintendent, had chased the three robbers when they fled seeing the police at a picket near Sher Shah Oil Depot.

The police had signaled them to stop, but they did not.

Police said the three men, riding a motorcycle, drove towards Link Road. The police team followed them.

When they reached Link Road, police said the robbers left their motorcycle on the road and ran into the field, from where they shot at the police.

The police shot back, hitting two of them, who died on the spot. After firing from their side stopped, police drew closer and found bodies of two men, later identified as Akram Aarain alias Akri and Ejaz alias Kali. Police said their third accomplice had fled.

They said the deceased men had shot and injured a Cantonment station house officer a week ago.

They had fled the police. They said the men had been wanted for several robberies in Shah Shams, Mumtazabad, Qutabpur and Muzaffarabad police areas.

Police said they had confiscated the motorcycle and a pistol found on one of the deceased.
