The Wildlife Department on Tuesday filed cases against seven people for illegal hunting of deer and doves. They were fined by the court and their weapons licences cancelled.
Wildlife inspectors Talib Hussain and Mushtaq Bhatti raided the Waniawala and Sitrah area and caught the men on charges of illegally hunting deer, doves and other birds.
An illegal hunter, identified as Muhammad Irfan, was arrested from Gull Road. He was presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Imran. The judge ordered the police to confiscate his weapons licence and also fined him Rs10,000.
In Sitrah, the team arrested a man, identified as Muhammad Saleem, who had killed a mother deer and had illegally kept a deer at his house. The team recovered the deer and sent it to the zoo. The suspect was fined Rs10,000.
In another raid, five men, identified as Muhammad Iqbal, Abad Ali, Muhammad Irfan, Qaisar and Khadim Lohar, were arrested after they were caught slaughtering a deer.
