A mobile phone shop owner has been sued for Rs500,000 for allegedly selling a defective phone.
Petitioner Muhammad Haroon told a consumer court that he had purchased a second-hand phone from Muhammad Imtiaz, proprietor of Bismillah Mobile in Salamatpura, for Rs10,000.
Haroon said that the phone sometimes switched off automatically while in use and he complained to the respondent, who told him to bring the mobile to his store and collect it the next day.
But it was still not repaired the next day, the petitioner said, and he complained again. The respondent refused to repair the phone, he said.
The court issued notice to the respondent.
Imtiaz told The Express Tribune that he had repaired a minor fault in the phone and it was now in good condition. He said the petitioner had not complained to him again about the phone.
