The district coordination officer on Monday ordered Gujranwala Electric and Power Company (Gepco) and the SNGPL to sever electricity and gas connections to all illegal housing societies in the district.
Addressing a meeting at his office, DCO Azmat Mehmood said owners of all illegal housing societies should be served final notices. He said they should be warned not to take these notices as just official paperwork. He said the government was determined to act against illegal developers.
He directed the officers concerned to inform the people to complete all their documents to avoid problems once litigation was initiated against illegal societies.
The DCO also ordered the officers concerned to prepare a list of electricity and gas connections to illegal housing societies and provide a copy of the list to the town administrations concerned.
He also ordered officials to register FIRs against owners of these illegal housing schemes.
