The Punjab Education Foundation will launch a project running evening classes for child workers. This will enable them to study free of cost up to matric in the evening, when they are not working. This was decided at a meeting held on Saturday at the PEF head office.
The NGO’s representatives shared their success stories regarding similar projects. PEF Education Voucher Scheme Director Maleeha Batool, who presided over the meeting, briefed the participants about the project’s objectives and sought their advise to ensure the success of evening classes.
She asked the NGOs for their thoughts on issues such as target settings, the procedure of child-identification, project duration, cost, infrastructure, assessment, curriculum and teacher recruitment policies. The key challenges identified during the meeting and discussed were absenteeism, retaining students and teachers, and quality control.
