A spring festival started at the Divisional Model College on Wednesday.
It was inaugurated by Commissioner Ejaz Munir.
Munir said that fairs and festivals were an important part of a culture. He said that people should not forget their culture. They should rather strive to enrich it.
He said spring was his favourite season as it brought freshness and lively activities.
Director (Colleges) Rana Munawwar Khan said that programmes like the spring festival played an important role in promoting love and peace among the youth.
DMC Director Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf said that the festival was organised to give students a chance to relax.
Shaishta Mubeen, one of the second-year students, said that such events gave students an opportunity to take a break from their hectic academic routine. She said she was happy that the college organised the festival for the students.
“I take it as an opportunity to celebrate spring with my friends,” she said.
The students presented tableaus and skits and musical performances, a gymnastic show and a mini circus were also held.
Six days of spring at UAF
A spring festival is also scheduled to begin at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on March 26. The event will continue for six days.
The events at festival include an agriculture exhibition, a fancy bird show, a pet show, a greyhounds’ race, tent pegging, a farmers’ convention and an alumni conference.
A prize distribution ceremony and a mehfil-i-milad will also be organised at the Iqbal Auditorium on the last day.
