Three men accused of killing a police constable during a robbery have been arrested, police said on Sunday.
SSP (Investigation) Mujahid Akbar Khan said that Constable Zahid Kareem was on his way home when the accused stopped him in Madina Town near Kamalpur Interchange and told him to handover his mobile phone and cash. When Kareem tried to run away, they shot him, killing him on the spot and fled.
The SSP said that the men were traced from the SIM card in the mobile phone they had snatched from a passer-by the same night. He said a house in Chak 271-JB was raided, from where one of them, later identified as Muhammad Owais, was arrested. The rest, Ali Furqan and Muhammad Zaman were later arrested from their houses on Owais’s indication.
He said they were taken to Nishatabad police station. He said stolen pistols were also recovered from the suspects.
