A man filed a complaint on Monday against his daughter-in-law and her brother accused of stealing his daughter’s gold jewellery which he claimed was worth Rs3 million.
Mukhtar Ahmed, a resident of Nawah Ojlan village, said on Friday while he was sleeping on the terrace in his house, his daughter-in-law Samreen Bibi and her brother Muhammad Nadeem, who was visiting, broke into the room where his daughter’s dowry was kept and took away 500 grams of gold jewellery.
He said the family discovered the theft at dawn when they woke up for Fajr prayers. He said Samreen Bibi and Nadeem were missing.
He said he later found that both of them had left for their parent’s house.
He said at first their father Muhammad Nazir had promised him to look for the gold and to return it, but when he was told how much gold was involved, he backed out of his commitment.
He alleged that Nazir also threatened him and his family with dire consequences if he reported the theft to the police.
He, however, registered a case against his daughter-in-law and her brother.
