Electric Woes: Commissioner asks for load management plan

LAHORE: 

The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) is providing only 40 per cent of Lahore division’s electricity demand. Lahore Electric Supply Company Chief Engineer (Operations and Management) Muhammad Mehboob Ali said on Monday.

Ali said Wapda was providing an average of 1,565 MW while the current need was 4,000 MW. It would increase to 5,000 MW in the coming days. He said that the supply varied from a minimum of 1,165 MW at 11 am to a maximum of 1,630 MW during 6 pm to 10 pm.  He was meeting was presided over by Commissioner Naseem Nawaz and attended by DCOs of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana.

Commissioner Nawaz suggested that LESCO officials develop a load management system.  He requested Lesco’s chief engineer to prepare a strategy for load management and provide the load management plan to the district administration every Tuesday.
