Tipped off: Three arrested, kites worth Rs15,000 seized

SARAI ALAMGIR: 

Three men were arrested on Sunday for selling kites. Police said they recovered 15,000 kites from those the possession of the men arrested.

City Station House Officer Raja Sajjad said that a team, headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Raja Sadaqat Ali, raided several places on tips from informers and caught the men in the act of making kites. He said cases were registered against the men under the Kite Flying Act, 2006.

The station house officer said that they had been instructed to take strict actions against kite flyers and sellers. Sajjad said the instructions were passed by the district police officer after several deaths had been reported in the district in kite-flying incidents.

Those arrested by the police in the raid were identified as Muhammad Sabir, a resident of Al Jannat Street; Shehzad Mehmood, a resident of Naseemabad; and Raja Shahid, a resident of Serai Alamgir.
